Pedro Güell holds a degree in Sociology from the University of Chile and a PhD in Sociology from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany. He is a lecturer at the Institute of Government and Public Affairs at the University of Chile (UACh). He is President of the Horizonte Ciudadano Foundation; a director of various foundations; and a member of editorial boards for both academic and general-interest journals. He was coordinator of the United Nations Development Programme’s Human Development Report between 1996 and 2014, and Director of Public Policy at the Office of the President of the Republic of Chile between 2014 and 2018. He has a long list of publications in specialist journals and books.
